Kassiopi is approximately 35 kilometers north east of Corfu town. A very picturesque resort it is reached by a spectacular drive which leads you around the foot of Mount Pantokrator (the highest mountain in Corfu island), with fantastic views over Albania.
Once a remote and inaccessible fishing village, it is now one of the island's most attractive holiday resorts. It is picture postcard pretty with red-roofed villas nestling between older Corfiot cottages but never detracting from the authenticity of the whole.
Prettiest of all is the harbor with its wide square lined with shops and restaurants looking out over the boats moored at the quayside. Shopping for souvenirs is easy as Kassiopi village has its own cottage industry of homemade lace and crocheted items.
You can watch village women sitting in the shade and making these crafts. An ideal photo opportunity, so make sure you have your cameras at the ready. The beaches around Kassiopi are mainly pebble coves reached by paths across the headlands that shelter the harbor.
A lovely day can be spent exploring the rocky coastline with its little bays and coves. At the end of the day visitors and villagers alike gather in the village centre, in the harbor square and the long main street It is at this time of the evening that you realize that Kassiopi is more than just a tourist resort, that it is also a living and working community with a real sense of pride in its past and in its traditions
