There are any number of alternatives for getting to Corfu by sea. Every day a large number of ferry boats, of
both the 'open' and 'closed' type make the crossing from Igoumenitsa to Corfu (Kerkyra port or Lefkimmi's port). Timetables vary according to the season. The "open type ferries" (ordinary ferry boats) complete the journey Corfu-Igoumenitsa in 1 hour and 45 minutes and cannot travel in very windy weather conditions.
The "closed type ferries" (bigger boats with covered parking area) complete the journey Corfu-Igoumenitsa in
1 hour and 10 min. and rarely cease running due to bad weather. Also, when the Port Police do not allow the departure of the open type ferries due to bad weather, the closed type ferries double their departures in order to cover the gaps in the service. The "Flying Dolphins" complete the journey Corfu-Igoumenitsa in 40 minutes. For visitors to the south of Corfu there is a faster route connecting Igoumenitsa to Lefkimmi's harbour (60 min).
The Lefkimmi port mainly serves connection to ‘Igoumenitsa’ and to the Islands of Paxos & Antipaxos (daily).
