Climate and weather conditions for Corfu island !!

Corfu, also known as Kerkyra, enjoys a Mediterranean climate with long, hot summers with nonstop sunshine, and mild by rainy winters.
This enviable weather is found across the Ionian Greek islands including Kefalonia and Zakynthos (Zante). With an average of 270 sunny days in the year, the weather on Corfu is certainly one of the tourism industry's main selling points and holidays are geared towards the outdoor life.
From June till September, is hot with low rainfall and plenty of sunshine. At the beginning of the summer the average high temperature is already very hot, at 25°C. It then rises to 38°C, the peak of the heat, in the end of July and August, before getting back down to 25°C in September.


The particular point to note about the weather in Corfu is that most of it's annual rainfall comes in the period - between November to the end of February. To avoid the rainy season look to late spring around March and April for English summer temperature averages of 19 degrees centigrade as a maximum, and approx 5 degrees minimum. Specialist holidays in Corfu, particularly on the outdoor activity front, in May and June are highly recommended. During May and June, Corfu enjoys sunny weather and the island is particularly beautiful with an abundance of wild flowers. Locals are busy looking after their gardens, beehives and vineyards. It’s a good time to go if you enjoy walking.

Corfu offers so much in the way of mountain walks and beautiful views- as well as the obvious pleasure of the sea. July and August are the hottest months of the year. The hotels and tavernas are very busy with visitors. Other locals are seeing to their harvesting.
They rise early and have a siesta in the afternoon. September and October, rather like the spring, is a wonderful time to visit Corfu. It is still hot, but not overbearing, the sea is still warm and people are more relaxed at the end of the season beeing busy preparing for winter & the grapes are harvested for the wine. The temperature is approx 24-30 C.
