We have just returned from Corfu and I would go back there again in a second. The island itself is stunning, and at this time of year the weather was perfect, warm and sunny with blue skies and a gentle breeze, with the sea plenty warm enough for swimming - coming back to drizzly grey Gatwick was heartbreaking.
The Kontokali Bay hotel is excellent. The private beach was within a couple of minutes' stroll from our room, with plenty of sun loungers, and shade provided by wood parasols if required. Every so often there are free drinks in the afternoon of ouzo or champagne which was a lovely touch, and the bar serving cocktails, beers etc is on hand

The pool area ia also very good, the pool is large and attractive with sea water and an infinity edge, and again plenty of space around the pool for lazing in the sun. The food I found especially good - after one evening in a taverna in Corfu Town, we spent the rest of our holiday eating at the hotel - very unusual for us but the food in both the a la carte restaurant and the buffet restaurant were fabulous. I especially liked the traditional food on offer such as pastitsada, veal stifado, moussaka and stuffed marrows, it was really tasty and the desserts were very good too - little portions so you can try a bit of everything. Lunch was at the taverna on the beach were you can either get freshly cooked fish or meat from the BBQ or pile up a plate of salad, have some fresh fruit and LOTS of delicious Greek yoghurt with honey and crushed nuts.

Our room was lovely and had everything we needed, it was quiet and peaceful and we slept in each day in complete peace. It was very clean and the cleaning services provided daily were excellent.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they were able to give us details of excursions on the island including a cruise to the nearby island of Paxos and the Greek mainland at Parga, and a day tour of the island by coach. Staff in the restaurant in particular remember who you are and are friendly and welcoming when they see you each day.
It was an amazing holiday in Corfu and i was very sad when the plane took off and I will definitely be returning there one day.
