Spiti Prifti Apartments // "Fabulous little place in Corfu"
We are a family of 4 and have recently returned from a 16 night holiday at Spiti Prifti. We had a great time, primarily down to the quality of the apartment and grounds, plus of course the excellent Eleni Prifti and her team.
We rented a one bedroom apartment (the kids staying on beds in what would be the lounge area I guess, but it was just used as a second bedroom by us). The accomodation is above average in terms of equipment and quality in my experience of Greek apartments. There was a seperate kitchen area, with dining table, there is an oven and hotplates, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and kettle. The bedrooms are air conditioned, and there is a TV with satellite channels in one of the rooms. Bathroom was modern and fine for what we needed. We were cleaned every day except Sundays - fresh towels and bed linen 2 or 3 times a week

The pool and snack bar area were fantastic. Great pool, a lovely garden area with plenty of shade (trees and shrubs, well established and very, very well tended to). There were always plenty of sun beds even on the days where non guests come to the pool bar - a common practice in Greece. Olga and Glenis looked after us really well at the well stocked bar, and the snack menu was pretty extensive, tasty and reasonable value in our view.
In the evening, we went to the Spiti Prifti taverna a few times, and were always looked after. The food was good, service excellent, and averagely priced for the area. The "Greek Night" on Tuesday nights was a great night (both times!!!)

Gouvia itself was what you'd expect from a Corfiot resort - a mix of tavernas (we liked Poco Loco and Moukas especially), tourist shops (yeah they're naff, but we love them!), and bars. It's a cosmopolitan mix due to the Marina being nearby, and all ages, and it feels comfortable and safe. We liked to end the evening at the Molfetta beach bar - overlooking Gouvia Bay - ice cold Mythos for me, G&T for my wife and soft drinks for the kids...lovely!! The Marina is also really accessible from Spiti Prifti, and it's fascinating to see all the boats, and wondering about the expense of buying and keeping some of them!!!!

Eleni Prifti is a remarkable resource, and a great host. She sorted our car hire, gave us an itinerary of sorts - Old Parithia - a deserted village in the mountains, and "The Fisherman" a Taverna in the middle of nowhere near Ag Georgios in the North West - a 5-10 minute drive along dodgy dirt tracks into the woods, and then the restaurant appears. Fantastic location overlooking the sea, excellent food, excellent value... There were a few wasps though, which put the kids off. She'll also sort out boat hire, taxis... nothing ever seems too much trouble.

There is a decent bus service (well ok, they cram you in a bit) from literally outside Spiti Prifti, and the fare into Corfu town was 4.40 Euros each way for all four of us (Bus # 7). It was really easy, and well worth the effort - Corfu Town is lovely, and Guilford Street is particularly charming. You can walk most of the main areas in a few hours.
Well that's our review - we loved Spiti Prifti and would have no hesitation to recommend or indeed return ourselves.
