The village counts about 2,000 inhabitants and disposes many cultural unions, such as Bands, Dance and Theater Groups. In the village there are super markets, grocers’ and butchers’ facilitating your shopping. You can also find cafeterias, bars, as well as some restaurants. Besides the services, there are also many sights that make Agios Mattheos region fascinating. Sights and regions of exceptional natural beauty, such as the Byzantine Castle of Gardiki built in the 14th century.
