Like others I approached this trip with some trepidation after reading some of the bad reviews on this site, but I have to say that I truly cannot understand what the problem is. Firstly, of course this isn't a 5 star hotel by UK standards. People are deluded if they book a holiday for a few hundred quid (most of which is the cost of the flight) and then go expecting Claridges. Thomas Cook rate Roda Beach hotel as a 4 star, which having travelled all over Greece and staying in loads of places, I would have to agree with.
The Roda beach is a huge hotel, catering for many nationalities and does it really well. With so many guests there are bound to be some niggles. especially as it is Greece with the laid-back attitudes that prevail. We thought the food to be good in the main restaurant, very good in the chinese and italian. and excellent in the greek restaurant.
The snacks were limited but as a previous reviewer said, when you can eat 3 good meals a day they don't need to be over the top. We had a superior room in the bungalows between the pool and the beach. It was clean, spacious and had a separate area for the children. We had a flat screen TV and a mini bar that was restocked daily. We didn't order breakfast in the room but could have done. The staff all work really hard and are generally very friendly. The Thomas Cook girls were great and my little boy had a great time at the club, despite us not booking with Thomas Cook. We paid a small charge and knew that he was in good hands. As far as food poisoning went we didn't have any problems and we ate in most of the time. We took lots of anti-bac hand gel and made the kids use it after the pool and beach. It was very hot and easy to pick up germs from anywhere so its perhaps a little harsh to blame to hotel for a few incidents when there are hundreds of people staying at any one time. I probably would not return as we prefer other greek islands but this is not because of the hotel and I would not hesitate to recommend

Recently returned from this hotel and really can not see why people moan so much about it. We stayed for one week the 1st week in September and had the most amazing time. The hotel was lovely, very clean and we found the staff to be friendly. We arived at the hotel at 4am and were offered sandwhiches and water to take to our room. We were checked in quickly and the staff behind the desk were very pleasant, more polite than i have ever had from an English hotel. Roda Beach Hotel and the ground themselves were very pretty. We stayed in a superior delux room in the main building, which had a partitioned wall with door to seperate the childrens sleeping area from ours. The bathroom was modern and large complete with shower, bath, sink and marble worksurfaces. The room itself was slightly smaller than hoped but was very clean and more than ample storage. The mini fridge was re-stocked every day with 2pepsi, 2waters,2 7up, 2 becks and 4 local brand drinks, all of which were free. We arrived back to our room the 1st morning and found a complimentry bottle of sparkling wine in our room along with a bowl of nuts. The maid came daily to make the beds and clean the bathroom. Yes the pool was salt water, but it DOES state that in the brochures! We tended to swim in the sea anyway as the sea was lovely and shallow, perfect for the children.
Roda Beach Hotel staff cleared the seaweed away every day making it lovely to swim in. Beach was great, corse sand with amazing views accross to Albania. Was only a 5 min stroll along the beach to Roda village, which was a wonderfull little place. Good mixture of tourist shops, english bars and tavernas and greek resturants alike. Everyone we encountered in Roda were friendly and welcomed us with open arms. Really is a lovely place. The main resturant at Roda Beach hotel was nice if a little all-inclusivey. As for the person who said there was only pancakes on offer for the child, well they must have stayed at a different hotel to us as in the main resturant they served: pancakes, fries, kebabs, chops, stirfry, rice, spag boll, pasta, range of meats in sauces, friut, deserts, icecream, cerial, toast, jams, soup.....and much much more besides! Yes it does get a bit samey after a while but it was all very nice. We also tried the Italian resturant which was good and the chinese which was fantastic. You do have to book around 8am the morning previous to the day you wish to eat there though. Wonderfull beachfront locations but would say book an outside table if its hot, gets very hot inside otherwise. There was a slight shortage of sun beds on the beach but if you ask the hotel will remove peoples towels if placed there before 11am. Always plenty of beds around the pool though.
The only downsides we experienced was actually not through fault of the hotel but that of Thomas Cook, the rep was only there about 2hours of the entire week so if we had had a problem we wouldnt have been able to sort it with them anyway, the hotel staff were always quick to correct anything that other people complained about from what we could tell. The other down side was the English entertainment team (again Thomas Cook) they really were poor, only bingo really. There were other entertainment teams which were amazing and were repeated into 7 languages so everyone knew what was going on. Does take a bit of time to get through it all but they gave it their all everynight and were really good. We had a great relaxing week and the hotel and area was lovely, just dissapointed with Thomas Cook. I would most certainly recommend it and will be going back to Roda resort, this time self catering so we can try some of the tavernas etc that we did not have chance to try this time. All in all, a great holiday :)

Arrived in Corfu 5/9/08 for 10 days ... This was our second visit ... We were not happy about reading some of the bad reviews .... Arrived at Roda Beach Hotel and the reception staff were very friendly .... I had taken all of my paperwork which showed that I had booked and paid for a superior delux family room, which is what we received .... We stayed in the new block with its own pool and bar .. The room was large, clean and overlooked the pool . The mini bar was filled every day. Ensure you empty it before the maid arrives, we also left the fob in the electric all day as otherwise the fridge did not work .... The facilities were very good, the pools were all salt water so the kids took a little while to get used to it but they were fine, no different from the sea ...... The food was good although a little repetitive in the main but no different from any all inclusive resorts ... The chinese and Italian restaurants were very good and the staff were friendly ..... The entertainment from Roda Beach Hotel and the Animation teams were always good fun, don't expect it to be quite around the main pool, lots of aerobics, games and pool games .... The beach bar ( or English Entertainment ) was not so good, but it was the end of the season for us brits ... join in the main entertainment as this was good or just chill near the pools .... You will find a secluded pool hidden away in the main hotel complex .... for those that like aerobics you can always join in the aqua aerobics in the sea ..... The snacks throughout the day were not enough , they used to servce hot food but this had stopped .... plenty of beds as not so busy with families so we didn't have to get up early with the towels. WE did have issues with WASPS they were everywhere due to the weather in Corfu. Take plenty of repelant ..... Our last afternoon was not so good , they said a few showers , no it was more like Hurricane Ike, we sat and watched as beds and brollies went flying in the sea, it lasted about as hour, the electric kept shutting off but we were on an island .... the kids thought it was great ..... Especially having to swim to get the towels from the pool. Anyway it was a great holiday, met some great Northerners .... would go back .....
