Travellers Advice on Bella Venezia Hotel | Corfu Kerkyra
Located in a quiet side street, Hotel Bella Venezia is a stone's throw away from Corfu Town's historic "Spianada," and guests have easy access, by foot, to all the important sites and attractions of Kerkyra: the Liston, the two great fortresses, the museums, and Corfu Town's fine restaurants, shops and cafes. Open year round, the Bella Venezia is one of Corfu island's premier hotels, its reputation based as much on the impeccable, personalised service offered by its long-time staff as on its fine amenities. The Corfu Nautical Club (N.A.O.K.) is situated only 100 meters away from Bella Venezia hotel and our guests may swim or participate in water sports without leaving town. The hotel is open during the whole year and is considered one of the best hotels in Corfu Greece due to the high standards of service, as well as the warm hospitality. Two honeymoon rooms and a grand master suite round out the accommodation

Re: A Great hotel in Corfu !

We stayed at the Bella Venezia Hotel in a honeymoon double (room 203) for 1 night on the 23rd June 2008 and arranged a late check out from the room at 6.30pm the following day. The cost for this was 127 euros for the night and 50 euros for day use. We arrived at Bella Venezia at about 11am and our room was ready. It was on the first floor at the back of the hotel, overlooking the hotel’s garden, with its own balcony. There is a lift. The room was very nicely decorated and had a double bed, mini-fridge, flat screen TV and aircon. The room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean. The only downside was that they were a little on the small side. It was impossible to walk round the bottom of the bed if someone was using the dressing table. My boyfriend, who is 6’2”, struggled with the length of the double bed, as the honeymoon double had an iron frame at the bottom. We decided that a standard double or a twin (without the iron framework) would work better for someone of his height. The bedding was, however, very comfortable. In the bathroom there were the toiletries you would expect in a hotel of this standard. The shower was small but perfectly adequate. There are roads near Bella Venezia hotel, although no bars within the immediate vicinity. As a result, there was some road noise, but the windows sealed well and there was very little noise from the adjoining rooms.
The air-conditioning was integrated and did a good job of cooling the room quietly. It automatically went off if you opened the door to the balcony, which I consider a good thing. What was not so good, however, was that it did not come on easily when the door was shut again and frequently had to be reset by reception. Breakfast was taken in the garden. This offered a good choice of pastries, bread, cereal, meats and cheese etc. I thought they could have offered fruit juice instead of something that tasted like squash, but overall it was all very good. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful and made our stay very pleasant. Bella Venezia hotel is well located for exploring Corfu town and is close to the bars and restaurants, without them destroying the peace. Be aware that parking outside the hotel is extremely difficult, although not so bad with a moped/motorbike. I would thoroughly recommend Bella Venezia hotel and believe it is good value for money when compared to those nearby. I would happily stay there again.

Re: Outstanding hotel, but aircondition incapacity lets it down !
by PanosL'son June 2007 | Overal Rating of Bella Venezia Hotel: 9/10
I stayed in Bella Venezia for 4 very hot nights earlier this month and was generally very satisfied.
Location of the hotel is excellent, in the center of the beautiful city of Corfu and a short walking distance from most of the attractions of the city. The road in which the hotel is located is blunt, but quiet and although there is no hotel parking, it should not be very difficult to find street parking, especially in weekends. Bella Venezia hotel occupies an old building of the 19th century, but has being recently completely renovated and looks really stunning from outside. The very good impression continues in the common areas of the hotel, which are tasteful and atmospheric. The rooms are also excellent: they are not spatious, but they are extremely clean, luxuriously decorated and fully equipped with all expected amenities. All furniture, curtains, linen etc look and feel quite expensive and are refering more to a good 5-star hotel, rather than a 3-star, like Bella Venezia. Almost all rooms do not have a balcony (there is no much view to miss anyway), but their high ceilings give them an extra flair of luxury. Special mentioning should be made to the bed, which was a real double and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in my life. Staff at the reception are friendly and helpful (especially the male ones) and the same is true for the breakfast staff. Continental breakfast itself is also very good, offering ample choice of bakeries, fruits etc. It is served in a lovely garden, situated at the back of Bella Venezia hotel.
With all the above offered at a very reasonable price, for this time of the year in Corfu (100euros B&B), Bella Venezia would have earned comfortably my five stars, if it wasn't for one, but serious flaw: during my entire stay, there was a heat wave of unusual stength and the hotel aircondition system was clearly incapable to cope with it. Despite the presence of individual controls in the room, they have no value, as proved by the fact that I was constantly setting them at 18C and never got a room temperature below 27-28C, even at nights! In my repetitive complaints to the reception, the staff reassured me that the aircondition works fine and it should be just a matter of patience. In time, I realised that reception staff had a sophisticated PC software, where they could monitor the exact settings, operational status and temperature of each hotel room. The fact that they were constantly monitoring the relevant screens (and tried to intervene(?) centrally to improve things ) proves that they were aware of the problem, even if they failed to admit it or manage it effectively. I don't know if the source of the problem was cost cutting in the purchase of aircondition equipment or simply the limitations set by the structure of the old building (most probably the latter), however the end result was a hot unpleasant room in where I could hardly enjoy my night sleep (thanks God that I was away all day...). Certainly, the weather conditions were extreme, but this problem has tarnished an otherwise excellent experience from Bella Venezia. However, I must say that it is an overall excellent hotel, which I would happily recommend to anyone and in which I would happily stay again ...

Re: The public areas of the hotel have a "certain atmosphere" !
by John S. Bowman on Nov 2005 | Overal Rating of Bella Venezia Hotel: 7/10
Bella Venezia hotel is described as "first choice for many" but it does not stand out in any one category but all combined together it would be a "gold-medal winner" like the "decathlon". The "neoclassical mansion" has been restored with "character if not major distinction". The hotel is located in a "quiet" place just out of the center and "lacks fine views" but it is in walking distance of all amenities with a "decent beach" "300 yards". The public areas of Bella Venezia hotel have a "certain atmosphere" but are "not especially stylish". Guest rooms are not "large" or "luxurious" but they do have some "old-world touches". The showers are described as less favourable and "undeniably cramped". Bella Venezia has a "colorful patio garden" where breakfast is taken, but no restaurant. "Light snacks" are available from an "enclosed kiosk". The prices for staying are "below" other "similar Corfu hotels".
