Pantokrator Hotel  //   "Hotel Rooms with View - Corfu "

My friend and I stayed at the Pantokrator Hotel in the middle of July. Firstly we were put at the very top of the hill which although had stunning views from the balcony was extremely steep and was at least half a mile backwards and forwards to the pool and more if we went into Barbati village. We did ask to be moved to a lower room but unfortunately there were no vacancies. We had trouble with the lock on our patio doors as our room didnt have a front door only patio doors. One morning we got up and were all set to go down to breakfast when we were unable to unlock the patio doors and we had to get a member of staff to come up and try to open the doors which they did eventually with great difficulty.

We were really worried at this stage as if there had been a fire during the night my friend and I would most certainly have perished! The staff didnt seem at all fazed by it and just got somebody out during the day to adjust the lock, there was no apology, even though we had had problems with the lock from day one. Behind our room was a separate apartment which we believe belonged to owners/staff, there were three big dogs kept outside and they barked on and off throughout the night. If staying at this hotel, please avoid Room 521! On our last night I went back to the room to pack and there was a huge rat having a drink from a puddle of water from the air conditioning! I am sooo glad that we didnt have to sleep there anymore.

I have been to Corfu three times and usually stay in Kassiopi further up north and I have to say I will be returning to Kassiopi and not Barbati. There wasnt enough to do in the evenings, it was extremely quiet. Although there was some entertainment at the hotel it was very amateurish. We booked our holiday through
Flightline and they had stated that air conditioning and a fridge were included in the price, however when arriving we were told that only air conditioning was included and we had to pay 21 Euros for a fridge. We cannot understand why you have to pay for the use of a fridge, it struck us that they were very money grabbing at Pantokrator hotel. As we had a 5.15am flight we obviously needed to keep our room on and we were charged 30 Euros for this privilege which again we thought was extremely high. We would certainly recommend the boat trip "Blue Lagoon" as this was very relaxing and interesting.
Also take a trip into Corfu Town as this was very interesting. If you want a completely chill out holiday with lots and lots of walking up steep hills then this would be the place to go. The temperature was in the high 90's so probably worth going in September when the temperature has dropped and the walking up and down hills not so strenuous.
