My family (47, 15 and 13) stayed for a week during August and found staying at the Paleo an enjoyable experience. The hotel rooms are basic and un-airconditioned on the ground floor and could definately do with modernising but how bothered you are about this depends totally on how much time you wish to spend in your room! The view from the Paleo is nice apart from being on a busy road. Breakfast on the terrace is very nice with friendly owners and plenty of tables. The pool is a good size with just enough sun loungers although the volume of coaches passing during peak season may bother you.

Take advantage of the mattresses at the pool (you don't have to pay for them if you are a staying at tghe hotel) as they make for a very comfortable sleep! The local beaches are quite small and get very busy in August as you would expect.
To avoid this we rented a boat with an outboard from the Port for EUR70 plus EUR30 fuel upon return. This was a great way to see the spectacular scenery, get away from the crowds enjoy a picnic on some almost secret beaches that you can only get to by boat. A morning walk to the Monastery is great for taking photos as is the walk up to the near by mountain village for lunch. Great photo opportunities from there also!

here are plenty of low key bars and restaurants within walking distance of the Paleo all of which serve similar good quality food. My family enjoyed having lunch at the bar/restaurant right next to the hotel. Lovely and shady with great lunches on offer. One thing to note is that I wouldn't recommend this resort to those with small children as the main road has no footpath in places with high drop offs too. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive break away with traditional Greek service and nice scenery, why not give it a try? It's only 2.5 hours away after all!
