Just returned from the Corfu Palace hotel ....beautiful location for poping into Corfu town, lovely front entrance, clean room, breakfast ok... But oh dear a lot of buts!!! Sold by Thompson as a 5 star alacart BUT never in a month of Greek Sundays it may have been one time many years ago but ( first BUT ) not now. My partner had been going for 27 years BUT not again. Room service non existant had to wait for over one Hour Twenty for room service, and it did not get better. not once were the correct item ordered delivered.

The bed was the most uncomfortable i have ever NOT slept on... i was told to get an extra matress from reception to place on top of the bed, I joined a que of three other guests doing same, also a holiday rep collecting a number for her clients... evidently there are divan beds which are comfortable and wooden slatted beds which are anything BUT Ouch!! Breakfast was ok BUTsometimes the food was luke warm as was the coffee on a number of occasions not 5 star.

Little thought given to simple things ... Pats birthday and the hotel did a card for her and a vase of lovely flowers.. BUT they were given to me at the table and not Pat as she was collecting food... a lady came up with some flowers similar with a card and asked if she was Mrs Wood Pat said she was and the lady showed her card which had Mrs Wood on scribbled out and the other ladys written below!! The lady was not impressed. Everything was five star prices,, beer Tenner a pint water and coke fiver be carefull. We did not have evening meal but went to buffett which was reduced from 42 euros to 34 euros BUT the buffet evidently was a pale shadow of the extensive spread of food of earlier years

On my last day i went to the pool bar to have a coffee whilst awaiting transfer to the airport coffee was luke warm and had to be replaced !! You could not make it up!! A number of guets had been going for countless years some were sad at how the place had deteriated and would not be going back others were quite happy and were still in love with the Palace...
i only assume there taste and eyesight had diminished over the yeras they had been going. All in all a great ahame to see what was once the creme de la creme of a hotel become so shabby on standrds and service but annoyingly still marketed by Thompsons as a 5 star Shame on you Thompsons. I could go on BUT i am now going to bed in my star bed.!!
