Capo di Corfu Guest Review | "A Highly Recommended Corfu Resort"

We stayed at Capo Di Corfu for a week after reading several reviews on this site and literally hours choosing the best holiday. We made a good choice! I will try and go through things in some sort of order, but bear with me. Firstly we arrived very early in the morning: around 430am actually. The receptionist had arranged for some tasty sandwiches and cold water in our room when we arrived which was very much appreciated after all that travelling! He was very friendly & helpful indeed

The next day we needed to meet with a third party to get our return transfer voucher but due to arriving so early that morning, we missed the appointment. The receptionists went out of their way to get hold of the transfer company for us and although it took a couple of days to find our voucher, they sorted it all for us and took any potential stress away from us

Drinks were fantastic. They are most definitely NOT watered down; in fact I took to asking for small portions because they were so strong. If you haven't been to Greece before you will find this is the norm: they have very few measure laws in terms of alcohol unlike the UK. The non alcoholic cocktails are very tasty too and nice thirst quenchers round the pool.
The only thing I would say about the drinks is that fresh juice is not available with the all inclusive package, it costs 3,50 Euros. They do, however, dish out orange or apple squash which is quite nice. Also, whenever I ordered tea I had to specifically ask for Earl Grey as the default was Ceylon which I don't like and they didn't serve normal breakfast tea. You will also find yourself asking for milk and sugar if you take it because they don't give it out unless you ask for it.

The food was very good. Breakfast is pretty standard and to be honest, the least fantastic of the meals. It's mainly salad, meats, cheese, cereals, some cooked food which is ok, lots of fruit and yoghurt and bread including somewhere to toast it. However, lunch was much better: always a huge variety of salad, deserts including yoghurt and honey, tasty soups, cooked food. Dinner was pretty much the same. If you do decide to go to this hotel always check the back shelf by the grill for food as we didn't realise until day 3 but there are usually very tasty, very hot things in there.
The main buffet food is hot but by the time you get to your seat does appear luke warm. However, they do supply a microwave so if this annoys you, you can heat it up some more. Some people have mentioned the wine on here but I have to say I enjoyed it and got exactly what I asked for everytime. On two occasions the red wine I was served was served cold but I found this interestingly refreshing after the heat of the sun all day!

On our final night, before we flew home, we ate at the Olive Tree a la carte restaurant which was also very nice.
The food is hotter but the same standard as the buffet. The advantage with this restaurant is that you get a very personal service. What was not explained to us is that you need to book quite well in advance for this restaurant.
You get one free meal as part of the all inclusive and the reception staff take bookings at lunchtimes in the main restaurant. You can have one free meal per week you stay and I would recommend doing it but not if you have kids as it's a very adult menu. The buffet food is very kid friendly, by comparison.

The whole time we were there, I had only one dissapointing meal. It wasn't that the food was bad - just not to my taste (mexican night: lots of kidney beans!) which says a lot for the hotel that I only found one meal I didn't enjoy. They do have a lot of theme nights and often have a Greek corner in the evening and I'd recommend trying the stuffed vine leaves and in fact any Greek dishes you see: they are cooked to perfection and so delicious

The pool is great, although gets very busy first thing and around mid afternoon. It tends to be quiet around 1230 - 3pm when people take lunch. The animation (entertainment) team do keep people occupied and I would recommend aquagym or cocktail games! They do announce activities mainly in French which was fine for me as I do speak French but I can imagine this is annoying if you don't. (I imagine by now you ahve read many reviews and know the animation team is French due to the hotel being 50% owned by French people.) As more British people arrived later in the week, they did translate more. Some people on here have said the games are loud and distracting but I beg to differ, they tend to blend into the background actually. I would recommend you take part in the games though as we found the animation team were much friendlier overall once they know you are willing to get involved

We went to see the animation show one night which was ok but I can imagine if you have kids they'd love it more than I did! The pool display on the 'Welcome' night (Tuesday) was fantastic though!
The entertainment in the evening is few and far between and I agree that teens would be bored but we were more than happy with a little dancing and then bed or scrabble on the veranda! If you did want to make a night of it, Kavos is a short cab ride away which reception will order for you and I am told that the party goes til 6am!

The beach is lovely, with boiling hot sand - I recommend you take your flip flops with you! The sun beds are comfy even though they don't look it and the sea is clean. Some people have mentioned seaweed on the beach. Personally I don't see the issue here. Yes there is seaweed on the beach but it's not debilitating and I've seen very few beaches without seaweed! There are no jelly fish (that I saw) or sea urchins which would be my bigger concern frankly! We hired a peddalo one day for 10 Euros and I'd recommend this highly. We had it for an hour and I had a good swim in the sea whilst my partner paddled since he is not a strong swimmer. Our peddalo had a slide to slide into the sea which was great fun!

Regards the sunbeds, I highly recommend you do as everyone else does and get up early to reserve one! By 9am the only sunbeds left are on the beach which is fine but we spent most time round the pool. The Thea Lobby Bar was great, a real undiscovered treasure that not many people use. It's much quieter than the pool bar and has better music in my opinion and the service is more personal. However, it is only open from 5pm until 12 midnight so you can't go there during the day

Do ask reception in Capo di Corfu Hotel about excursions, but expect the bus to be late. They always are - almost half an hour late without fail! And the infrastructure of the roads is poor so expect long, windy journeys down narrow streets for some of it. However, the excursions are worth it. We went to Corfu Town and Aqualand.
Aqualand was good fun to do once and great for kids (or juvenile adults like me!). Actually, we took the green bus to Corfu Town which is in fact cheaper (just over 4 euros each way compared to 15 euros) but the coach ride back was pretty cramped so be quick and get a seat! Reception will provide you with a timetable and these buses are slightly more reliable. But they do only come by every two hours or so. The average coach journey to Corfu Town is an hour, hence my low-ish score for Location. On the flip side of this you get NO airport noise and rarely see or hear a plane

There are a couple of supermarkets a few minutes from the resort towards Kavos which were good to buy souvenirs but for everyday essentials we found the onsite shop very well stocked and very reasonable: 80c for a big bottle of water, 4 Euros for a lilo and they sell citronella candles for use on your veranda for about 1 euro too

The room in Aquis Capo di Corfu Hotel was comfortable, plenty big enough for both of us and cleaned daily. We often used the do not disturb sign to prevent the cleaners coming in when we were having a lie in or out at breakfast and needing to return to sun cream up and this worked really well. The only thing about the room is the bed is two singles pushed together: not a problem in itself but be prepared to push them together now and then and lose a leg down the middle occasionally! Despite this, they were very comfortable beds and I generally slept well. the air con is set to 22 degrees or 24 degrees depending on the size of your room but this I found plenty cold enough and there were 3 fan settings too. The bathroom areas were small but for a couple this was not really an issue and to be honest I have had smaller bathrooms in UK hotels before! There is a safe in the room but this cost 3 Euros a day. We didn't use it and our stuff was more than safe.

Our shower fluctuated in temperature slightly but I found this refreshing once i got used to it! We were given a 'courtesy room' on our last day for free for half an hour to freshen up before our flight, meaning that we didn't lose out on our final day (we were allowed to use ALL hotel facilities until our transfer coach arrived at 11pm). The shower there did not fluctuate at all in temperature so I imagine it was an issue with our room in particular. The Aquis Capo di Corfu hotel does offer you to kep your room until either 7pm or midnight if you fly late but this isn't worth it in all honesty. To keep the room until 7pm was 70 euros. We figured cheking out at midday, leaving our luggage in a locked room in reception (which they let you keep accessing if necessary) and a freew courtesy room was a much better option! Overall, I would totally recommend Capo Di Corfu hotel and would love to try out other Aquis Corfu resorts based on my experience. However, shop for a good deal because the onsite room rate is about 200 Euros a night whereas with our package we paid more like 60/70 Euros a night and this was much better value. If you pay the full rate the (very) minor problems would bug you a lot more!
