Aquis Agios Gordios Hotel  //  "Fabulous adults only retreat hotel"

I took a taxi from the airport, a posh black Mercedes from the rank outside the terminal, there are a queue of them waiting, and felt quite safe as a single female, and it cost me 35 euros each way to the hotel which is 25 mins away via lots of twisty turny roads up and down hills, which i feel was a bit over priced. 6 hr delay coming back (thanks Monarch!?!) sitting at airport for hrs while snack bar staff smoked endless fags in the non smoking section hope they washed their hands before serving customers food again (great end to hols!), warning : diet coke and crisps from airport snack bar everest olympic catering, 6.60 euros - mega rip off, gave them back, went hungry for 6 hrs out of principle! Corfu is 2hrs ahead of UK time

What a fab ADULT ONLY hotel in Corfu ! I would definitely come back and stay again and recommend to friends.
A quality hotel well deserved of its 4/5 star rating. The small attention to details and genuine friendliness of the happy staff really make this hotel outstanding for the price. Recently refurbed to a modern standard, very clean and well maintained.
All rooms and the restaurant face the bay overlooking the turquoise sea, amazing sunsets and scenic views. Cut into the cliff face means there are a few steps to some areas but not excessive, I am hardly fit yet I could easily cope

Rooms have a ‘Travel Lodge’ feel with all the basics required for a pleasant stay including Free Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel with good signal strength, laptops available to rent or you can use their desktops in reception. In the room there is also a socket to plug in your laptop if its not wi-fi enabled. Flat screen tv plus a dvd player although the range of channels is a bit limited, mainly news channels and a film channel called True movies. I found the height of the chair under the dressing table a little too high to get my legs under so had to straddle the seat to use the desk. Also if your electrical appliance does not charge up in one socket , try it in others as many of us noted that not all the sockets will charge up equipment, so dont know if they have diff volts going to diff sockets – weird? I have to say my bed was rather hard and i did check to see if it had a mattress or solid wood, but it was prob an extra firm mattress which gave me back ache, but some would prefer it?. The bathroom has also been refurbed to a very modern standard but its a shame they used such dark tiles as it makes the small standard size bathroom seem even smaller. The other thing that was strange is that they have positioned the shower and tap in the centre of the bath which looks very trendy but is in such an awkward place should you be using the shower or bath. Dont forget to put your toilet paper in the bins and not down the loo!

I was on the all inclusive package, most meals are taken in the Androniki buffet style restaurant, and i have to say after reading some negative reviews, that the food selection and quality were very good, and I am an extremely fussy vegan vegetarian and do not expect anything other than chips when going abroad, but here they had a wonderful selection of fresh salads, fruits, breads, puds, veg, bread and meat and fish for the carnivores! Chefs all wore disposable gloves and constantly refreshed trays and took a pride in the display of food. There was even a salad chef a couple of nights to knock up the perfect salad. There is also a grill chef for meat cooked to order, and egg chef in the mornings. The waiting staff were very friendly and efficient, and hotel staff seemed genuinely happy in their jobs, and obviously took pride in their work and the hotel. Do try the Greek sweet pastries which look a bit like shredded wheat, they are scrummy! Breakfast was 07:00 to 10:00, Lunch 12:30 to 15:30, Afternoon tea by the pool with sandwiches & cakes 16:00 to 18:00, then dinner from 18:30 to 21:30 so you could get food all day long! Plus by the pool was self service ice cream, in 4 flavours. Drinks were all inclusive but there is a menu which clearly states that there were also some drinks available to buy, but were quite expensive. To be honest there was plenty to drink without the need to buy any, the wine and beer are lovely plus there are also 5 alcoholic cocktails, and 2 non alcoholic ones to enjoy. Sunday lunch we were given asti spumante at the restaurant door. Tea and coffee and water was also available. You could also have one meal at the Olive Tree a la carte restaurant if all inclusive but i did not bother as i was more than happy with the buffet.

I arrived end of April but as i was leaving start of May the season started and so did the animation team playing quiet games by the pool, none of that in your face type of loud imposing stuff that the med is famous for thankfully! There was live music in the lounge in the evenings and during Sunday lunch time an acoustic trio played in the restaurant. Its all very subtle and not OTT just as you would expect from this high class hotel.

I usually swim every day but found the pool very painfully cold so i missed not being able to swim. Only a masochist could bear more than a quick dip! Sunbeds were solid wood and had cushions, very comfy and plenty of parasols, during the weekend there seemed to be an influx of extra foreign guests and there was almost sunbed wars, and high tensions in the restaurant finding a table. After the weekend it returned to a more relaxed atmosphere. There are also free towels from the pool bar from 10am using a card system. The pool is on a terrace which also overlooks the bay. There are some steep steps leading down onto the beach and the tunnel bar which also served drinks. I was not brave enough to get down there though after seeing a few people on crutches who had fallen. I would definitely recommend Aquis Agios Gordios hotel to friends without hesitation, i found there was NOT a problem with wasps or flies or mossies at all like previously mentioned. Great value for money, very popular apparently fully booked already now until Sept! Will come again same time next year, only had one morning of rain but rest of the time temps were hot and sunny in the mid 20’s.
