Pantokrator Hotel //
"Very good Corfu Hotel for 3 Star Rating - Superb location"
We travelled to Corfu last week for 8 days. The Pantokrator hotel was very nice and in a nice quiet bay with a small selection of taverna's and bars(not busy or touristy). This coast is the better and quieter part of Corfu. We upgraded to a luxury room after reading advice on this site and also by looking on the hotels own website. The room was lovley. The website was accurate which was nice. The bathroom had a decent shower, hairdryer was typical hotel style (take your own is my advise!) and had a bit of duct tape holding it together and the pipes under the sink were a bit dodgy! Clean towels daily. |
The bathroom itself wasnt finished to a high standard but then this is Greece we are talking about! The fixtures and fittings were very nice with a good quality bed/mattress (huge bed in fact), double glazing (which was welcome when we had 5 thunderstorms!), great sea view. Balcony was quite small. Laminate flooring made such a difference to the normal cold tiles and gave the room more of a 'homey' & luxury feel. We had a small TV (only 2 UK channels though - Sport & News so not much good, and millions of Arabic ones) & a DVD player. You can get DVD's in the hotel but beware prices listed at €5 but the new ones were €7 but they had a really good choice. We mainly listened to music on the radio (on the TV). Unfortuntaly it rained most of the week and as the hotel is at the bottom of a mountain the clouds tended to linger.

The view over the bay was lovley to watch the lightening though!
The pool area is very nice with good sun lungers with comfortable cushions rather than sticky plastic ones you get on the beach. The pool was average. The pool bar food was very nice, i know its very English but they used PG Tips T bags where the hotel didnt! Not expensive either. About €12 for a small lunch with drinks (toasted sandwiches/greek salads) Overall though it wasnt a hotel with lots of English things which we prefered to the 'Egg & Chips' type resorts.
The hotel reception and outside balconies are very stylish, think more Marbella than Greece althought the hotel bar was quite dated as was the dining room. The food was average, dinners better than breakfast! Good choice of usually 5 things for dinner and mainly Greek although some German crept in, and very good salad cart on offer. Deserts also very nice. Red & White wine both cheap €1.50 per glass but tasted cheap!

There were 5 outside tables overlooking the pool & the bay but they were generaly always taken. The bar staff/ waiters /reception staff were all very good & helpful-giving you bus times, taxi numbers, calling car hire firms etc and the receptionist was English. Overall we were impreseed with the Pantokrator hotel. For a 3 Star Corfu Hotel it is very nice and asthetically pleasing. The food etc showed it was a 3*. A few people have commented on the hill up to the hotel from the road and it is quite a good workout but not too bad if you are reasonably fit. There is a further hill to the rooms but its worth it for the views.
