Pantokrator Hotel //
"An absolute gem Hotel in Corfu - would come back again!"
We booked direct with the Pantokrator hotel website after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. What a gem!
We were on a budget wanting a low cost hotel staying half board and so had modest expectations prior to arrival. We were very impressed with the hotel and the staff in particular could not be more friendly or helpful. We initially stayed in a basic room which to be fair was basic, but is what we expect of cheap Greek accommodation. The room was however clean, serviced every day and included A/C, fridge and a large balcony at no extra cost. The view from the room was incredible and was worth every penny! The mattress was a little uncomfortable which a number of people have commented on |
We upgraded to a luxury room for our last two nights and this room was lovely, spacious and nicely decorated. The only minor issues were that the shower does not provide a hook so you have to hold it while showering and the only English Channel on the satellite TV was BBC world news. This took some finding out of the 1500 channels!
The hotel itself is small but nicely presented with a very nice pool area with bar that also does snacks. The main bar is very nicely done and the barman was friendly and efficient.
The meals were excellent and served Buffet style. Although not cordon bleu cooking, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and choice. We were delighted to see that there were many authentic Greek dishes on the menu. Breakfast was not bad by Greek standards with a fair choice again, including some hot items. |
The only real issue with Pantokrator hotel is its location which is on a very steep hill.
It should however be recognised that this provides stunning views so is not necessarily a bad thing. The hotel clearly recognises that this is an issue and has provided a taxi to take you to your room. The taxi driver (Ali) is a character and it is his mission to ask you if you want a lift each any every time he sees you :-) He drives around the narrow roads between the rooms with breathtaking speed and precision, managing to propel the small minibus up the near vertical slopes! He will also take you down to the village if required. |
Babati is a small resort with wonderful views but a small number of facilities. It is therefore suited to those who either have no desire to explore beyond the pool, beach and the Taverna or are able to hire a car as we did. To be fair the bus service did seem regular although we didn’t use it. This is one of the few hotels we would consider returning to. The availability of cheap flights, the superb value for money offered by the hotel along with the superb views make it an absolute gem hotel in Corfu. |
