My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for a short break. We read some of the recent reviews both good and bad but always try to take a balanced overview of all comments and then make up our own minds.
We arrived at Aquis Agios Gordios hotel very early and was met by friendly and helpful staff who arranged for our bags to be put in a secure room, and we were invited to partake of all the facilities immediately. The hotel reception, lounge, spa and bar areas were comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated as was our room which overlooked the pool and the sea

As far as I am aware all rooms overlook the sea but we certainly benefited from our position and enjoyed some beautiful and stunning sunsets relaxing on our balcony, while sipping a glass of sparkling wine in the early evenings. The meals were excellent, the choice varied and plentiful. The chefs certainly took a lot of effort in catering for all tastes and nationalities, with the odd champagne breakfast thrown in. Sometimes things got a bit disjointed - we had a wonderfully cooked roast beef on Sunday which would have been fabulous had potatoes and vegetables been available (as there was on most days) instead of the pasta, rice or chips on this day. A varied mix of plain vegetables and potatoes were served the very next day during lunch - I just wondered if timings had just gone a bit awry! ;o).

Not every drink was included in the all inclusive package but there was plenty to choose from to suit anyone's palate as well as the little touches of serving sangria and watermelon daily to the dedicated sunbathers around the pool. There was also water dispensers all around the hotel so keeping fluids up of the non alcoholic kind was not an issue either.

Yes wasps were a bit annoying but it's September! the time of the year wasps are annoying ANYWHERE there is food or drink. We just ensured we left no food around or empty glasses - we also worked out that cocktails without fruit juices or lemonade did not attract the wasps so much and I grew very fond of the Gin Fizz! The village was a pleasant 10/15 minute stroll passing some nice little tavernas and bars along the beach, it was also very refreshing not be accosted and practically dragged in to the bars as is the case in some holiday resorts. The shops, bars and tavernas were also reasonably priced.
