Aquis Agios Gordios Hotel
"One of the best holiday's we have had"
Having read the reviews before we went, we knew it was a nice hotel but upon arrival we couldn't quite believe just how fantastic it was. Room - We stayed in a double room which was very clean and modern with a fantastic sea view. Also included a DVD player, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Location - Stunning. Set on a hillside in a secluded bay. The town is around a 5 min walk away and boasts several shops, bars and beautiful tavern. |
Beach - the hotel has quite a large number of steps down to the beach. The beach is a combination of sand and pebbles and loungers can be rented (not via the hotel) for appprox €5 per day. The sea is turqoise and crystal clear.
Pool - a large pool surrounded by more than enough comfortable loungers and umbrellas. The Pool Bar opens from 10am until 11pm and has comfortable seating in the shade where you can take a break from the sun and sip on a cocktail.
|
Bars - the hotel has 4 bars. Pool Bar, Beach Bar (half way down the steps to the beach), Lobby Bar and Rooftop Bar. The Rooftop Bar is unbelievable. There are approx 10 sunbeds if you fancy some quite time during the day away from the pool, along with modern outdoor seating and 2 hot tubs. I highly reccommend watching the sunset up there. Very romantic! |
Restaurants - The Aquis Agios Gordios hotel has 3 restaurants incl a sushi bar. You get 1 complimentary meal in the a la carte restaurant per week, with all inclusive meals served from the main restaurant which has both outdoor and indoor seating with stunning sea views. Afternoon tea is served at the Pool Bar from 3-6pm. Just a tip, I reccommend that you order drinks as soon as you have selected your table in the main restaurant as they can take a while to come. That way, by the time you've visited the buffet the drinks will have arrived. |
Food - the food was varied and caters for all tastes, in particular, offers a fantastic selection of fruit and veg and freshly cooked dishes such as fish or omlette.
Entertainment - the entertainment was excellent and only usually on in 1 or 2 of the bars so as the hotel has 4 bars, you can escape it if you wish. Entertainment ranged from a music quiz to live traditional Greek music.
Gym & Spa - the gym has limited equipment but does the job and is open from 10am-7pm.
Staff - the staff are extremely polite and helpful. |
Downsides - the only real downside is that the drinks on all incl are not very varied e.g. do not include herbal tea, hot chocolate, malibu. You only get the basics e.g. vodka, coke, tea, coffee etc. Also, due to the location (on a hillside) there are a lot of steps and hills to get to the beach or into town so be aware if you have any leg or back ailments. Overall if you are looking for a holiday of luxury, sun and relaxation in an area that is unspoilt and authentic then go to Agios Gordios. |
