Aquis Agios Gordios Hotel // "Lovely holiday in Corfu"
We arived around 1am after a reasonably short transfer from the airport over the island. The reception staff were helpful and quickly directed us to our room. The room was large and clean with a nice balcony overlooking the pool and the sea, which gave us a good first impression of Aquis Agios Gordios hotel. Food: Good selection of hot and cold food for breakfast, nothing out of the ordinary but enjoyable. Dinner was in a similar buffet style, most of the food was good, however some less popular dishes were left out for some time making them appear less appertising. Most of the food in the evenings and some of breakfast was Greek in style, particularly the deserts in the evening. The a la carte restaurant, which you could eat at once per stay for free, was a little disappointing. The food was not a lot better than in the main restaurant |
Drinks: Drinks were available from the pool bar and the main bar near reception, the prices were reasonable and we enjoyed the 2 for 1 cocktails during happy hour. Pool: The pool was reasonably small but clean with lots of sun beds and parasols surrounding it. The pool was fairly cold despite temperatures being above 40 degrees. The beach is at the bottom of some steps, it was not too far to walk at all. The beach was nice and sandy, the sea was warm and plesent to swim in. The sunbeds and parasols on the beach do not belong to the hotel and had to be hired, but we were happy putting out towels on the sand. Walking along the beach you can reach a number of snack bars which were good for lunch |
Entertainment: When we went to the hotel it was used extensively by Thompson who provided their usual standard of entertainment. This was mainly aimed at an older age group as this was the majority of the people staying at Aquis Agios Gordios Beach hotel. Excursions: We visted Corfu town one evening which is well worth a visit for the history and souvenirs.
We also had a meal at one of the local restaurants which served good food. Took a boat trip to Albania, it was an extremely long day but well worth a visit. Overall we had a great time in Corfu, which was in the middle of a heat wave when we visited. The hotel was good and we are happy how much we paid for it. This hotel predominantly attracts the older age group but being possibly the youngest people in the hotel (23) we still had a very enjoyable time and didn't feel out of place. |
