Although classified as a Thompson Gold hotel, it's probably first worth mentioning for whom this resort is not really suitable . To get to the beach does involve a few steps (although not as many as some reviewers claim), so although the hotel does appeal to a more mature clientele, it's not really designed for anyone not comfortable with a few flights of steps. Reviewers have also said that it does not meet their expectations in comparison with other Gold hotels. Indeed, the hotel does have a kind of tired, worn feel about it, but it is charming none the less and very much in keeping with the resort as a whole.

I won't spend too much time on the hotel itself , as staying here is really a means to an end; it's clean, the rooms and food are adequate, and the staff are amongst the most friendly I have experienced. The location is superb, set on a plateau with cliffs above and a great view of the coastline below. The sunset from the restaurant is spectacular.
The poolside and evening entertainment is a bit 'Butlins' but very professionally done and you are never made to feel compelled to join in. OK - now the point of the review - Aghios Gordios itself. The small town is a ten minute stroll along the beach to a Greece I had thought had disappeared, especially in brash Corfu. No nightclubs. No neon. Just small , friendly tavernas and excellent family-run restaurants (Sebastiens is unmissable)
